pub fn spawn_clone(url: String, dest: String) -> EffectExpand description
Clone url into dest, off the actor thread.
Not spawn_git, which runs in magit_workdir() — that would put
the clone inside the repository you are already in, which is
almost never what anyone means, and is silent when it happens.
dest is resolved against the process’s own directory instead, and
the prompt pre-fills it absolute so the answer to “where did it go”
is on screen before the clone starts.
The notification says what the clone does NOT do. Magit shows the
new repository’s status buffer afterwards; that is not reachable here
(magit_workdir is process-wide, and there is no :cd), so the
magit buffers keep pointing at the repository the editor was launched
in. Saying so once, at the moment it matters, is the difference
between a documented limit and a user concluding the clone failed.
