The default plugins directory: ~/.config/lattice/plugins/ on Linux AND
macOS (honoring $XDG_CONFIG_HOME), %APPDATA%\lattice\plugins on Windows.
None if the platform has no config dir (the editor then loads no on-disk
plugins).
