BufferSource

Struct BufferSource

Source
pub struct BufferSource { /* private fields */ }
Expand description

D.8.b (2026-05-31): live-rope participant backed by a buffer. Replaces the prior BufferSource + BufferSource two-struct split (both had identical shape — provider + buffer_id — and only differed in which trait they implemented). The trait collapse to DiffParticipantSource makes the split structurally redundant.

The unsaved-buffer case: when neither side of a diff has a filesystem path, both sides resolve through BufferTextProvider at snapshot time. The session’s descriptor must include this buffer in its watch list so edits to it wake the session.

Source

pub fn new(provider: Arc<dyn BufferTextProvider>, buffer_id: BufferId) -> Self

Source§

impl DiffParticipantSource for BufferSource

Source§

fn snapshot(&self) -> Rope

Produce this participant’s rope. Called once per recompute; the implementor decides whether to clone a cached rope or rematerialise from a backing store.
Source§

fn buffer_id(&self) -> Option<BufferId>

D.8.d (2026-05-31): the buffer id this source is backed by, if any. Returns None for non-buffer sources (StaticSource, OnDiskSource, future GitSource); BufferSource overrides to return Some(buffer_id). Read more
