2026-05-27: display.whitespace.* snapshot consumed by the
cell-builder when emitting cells. Mirrors the
option_cache.whitespace_* shape but lives here so the worker
can be written without a config-crate import cycle.
show is the master gate (display.show_whitespace). When
false, the builder emits whitespace bytes verbatim. When true:
tab: glyph substituted for\t(None → leave as-is).trailing: glyph for spaces between the last non-space byte of a line and EOL.leading: glyph for spaces between BOL and the first non-space byte.space: glyph for middle (non-leading, non-trailing) spaces. None → keep middle spaces as ’ ’.eol: glyph appended at the visual end of each line. Reserved for a follow-up (extending past the last char complicates byte↔col remap).
Fields§
§show: bool§tab: Option<char>§trailing: Option<char>§leading: Option<char>§space: Option<char>§eol: Option<char>§tabstop: u32W.4.t: columns a hard tab expands to. The builder advances
each \t to the next multiple of this width, emitting that
many cells (a marker glyph + space fill when show, plain
spaces otherwise) so the cell grid models a tab at its true
display width — one width model the host scroll model and
both renderers share. 0 (the Default) is treated as 1
(legacy one-cell tabs) so test fixtures need no change.
